Last week we shared with you from Eph 5:8 that believers have the responsibility to live in the light and to expose evil. And because of that they need to be careful how they live. We also saw in Eph 5:10 that their lives must please God and they must conduct themselves before unbelievers in such as a way as to shine with Christ and draw others to Him. Last week we learned how the Apostle Paul described, in general terms, the putting off of the old self and the putting on of the new. Then he described particular sins of speech and personal animosities. He continues here in Chap 5:1-14 further describing actions that are unsuitable among the Christian community. As Christians we're supposed to live a different life than those around us. We’re supposed to leave the old life of sin behind and follow Christ and the result should be our radically changed behavior. But how can we do that when we're surrounded with so many temptations? Have you ever felt like the more you try to do good the more you don’t? Have you ever felt like there is nothing good in you as a result? Those are all-too-familiar feelings for many. In today’s study the Apostle Paul will come across as more human than in any other Scriptures he wrote. And that’s particularly important with this subject we’re going to talk about. We’re going to learn that we are not alone in our struggle against sin. Even Paul had his battles. And we’ll learn that there is a rescue available for all.
