In Rev 17 we learned about the “great harlot” (of prostitute) called Babylon the Great and why she would need to be destroyed. Today, in Chap 18, it describes the destruction—how it occurred and its effect upon the inhabitants of the world. Welcome to Part 4 on our series about ordinary people that God uses. The text is Acts 16:13-15 and it’s here we’re introduced to an ordinary businesswoman named Lydia along with the Apostle Paul and his team in the city of Philippi. Lydia was 300 miles from home and Paul had been diverted in his missionary journey by the Holy Spirit. But for what reason are the two of them in the same city? Today we begin Part 1 of our study about the final judgments, the 7 bowl judgments. Unlike the previous plagues from the seals, which had destroyed one-fourth of the earth and the trumpets which had destroyed another third of the earth, these plagues were directed only against the Antichrist’s followers but affected the entire earth. These judgments were complete and final, culminating in the abolition of all evil and the end of the world. These would bring about the end of the Antichrist’s reign. Welcome to Part 3 of our sermon series where we’re going to be introduced to a woman named Tabitha. She was a disciple known for her constant good works, charity and sewing clothes for poor widows. But she fell sick and died, only to be raised again to life by the power of God through the Apostle Peter. And because of this many people came to faith in Christ. Today, in the final verses of chapter 14 (14-20) we’ll learn about two visions of final judgment: The harvest of the earth compared to a grain harvest (14-16) and the horror of the final judgment of God upon sin (17-20). Today, in chapter 14, we’re given a glimpse into eternity to show believers what awaits them if they endure. Their suffering will not be meaningless; it will only be a prelude into eternity with God.
