In 1 Tim 6:3-10, the Apostle Paul warns Timothy against false teachers who exploit religion for financial gain. He also teaches that “godliness with contentment is great gain,” reminding Timothy that we brought nothing into this world and can take nothing out. And he explicitly warns that the desire to be rich creates a destructive trap. Then we get to verse 10, the verse in question today. Why do so many people misquote it? Is money really the root of all evil or is it something else? Let’s find out! Thanks for listening. God bless you! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.

Jeremiah 29:1-14 contains a letter from the prophet Jeremiah to the exiled Israelites in Babylon. He instructs them to settle down, build homes and pray for their captors. He assures them of a future, promising that after 70 years, God will restore them to their homeland. Within this passage there is a very well-known verse (11) stating that God has “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Sadly, this verse is often misquoted and used in the wrong context. We’re going to talk about so come join us for an inspiring journey through the Word of God. Thanks for listening. God bless you! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.

People commonly misquote Matthew 7:1-6 as a blanket command to never criticize, correct or evaluate anyone else’s behavior. This misinterpretation treats verse 1 (“Do not judge, or you too will be judged”) as an absolute rule, ignoring verses 2-6, which clarify that Jesus is actually condemning hypocrisy and harsh, self-righteous condemnation. Jesus doesn’t say that correcting someone’s faults (removing the speck) is inherently wrong. Instead, He commands people to address their own, much larger moral failings (the log or plank) first. In this way, Jesus isn’t saying to ignore sin; He is saying to approach correction with humility and self-awareness, rather than hypocrisy. Thanks for listening. God bless you! As chapter 6 begins, Jesus opens the scroll by breaking the first 6 seals. NOTE: The scroll won’t be completely opened until Jesus opens the 7th seal which will be in chapter 8. What we’re about to discover is that the contents of the scroll reveal mankind’s depravity and portray God’s authority over the events of human history. Thanks for listening. God bless you! Matthew 18:15-20 outlines Jesus’ instructions for handling interpersonal conflict within the church. He establishes a constructive, three-step approach—private conversation, mediation with witnesses and church involvement—with the primary goal of restoring relationships. It also affirms the spiritual authority and divine presence accompanying community discipline. But, verses 18-20 are often misquoted which change the intent of Jesus’ teaching. Come and join us as we find out more. Thanks for listening. God bless you! To find out more about our church please go to www.whccnb.org.
