We’re continuing from where we left off last week in Romans 9. Today we pick up with verses 10-24. In this study Paul reminds the Jewish people of all that God has blessed them with, including the fact that from them is traced the human ancestry of Jesus. He blessed them in ways beyond other groups of people. But they now needed to accept that God sent His Son, Jesus, to make it possible for the Gentiles to also receive those blessings. Today we start a powerful 6-week series titled Forerunner. We’re going to discover the “behind-the-scenes” story of how John the Baptist was prophesied for centuries to be the forerunner for Jesus Christ. Each week we’ll explores passages from the Old Testament, which foreshadow not only the forerunner’s coming in John the Baptist, but also the coming of Messiah and how the two are intertwined. Paul longed for the Jews to accept what Jesus did for them and he wanted them to accept God’s plan of salvation for the Gentiles as well. A sense of belonging is something we all strive for. It helps us to know that we’re not alone and there are others who share our background and values. The Jewish people in Paul’s day enjoyed this sense of being God’s chosen people but they didn’t exactly like the idea of sharing it with anyone else. Sound familiar? Let’s talk about it! Last week we considered Agur the prophet and list-maker who, in the other parts of Proverbs 30, reminds us to explore God’s Word, seek God’s purpose, appreciate God’s undefinability, ponder God’s timeline, affirm God’s authority, and anticipate God’s eternity. But we saved the best for this week. The buried treasure in Proverbs 30 is the 3-verse prayer that delivers a shocking formula for trusting God and discovering His will for our life. Every human being wants to be loved by someone. As this Scripture passage teaches, God’s love for us is so wonderful it can’t even be compared to human love. Sure we could sacrifice our life for another. Soldiers in time of war have proven that. But we don’t have the power to bring that sacrificed life back from the dead. Well, we’ve done it! We’ve reached the last sermon in our series Ephesians: The Mystery Revealed. That’s right...11-weeks ago we started and today we wrap it up. Folks we're fighting an enemy we can't see... but then again we can't see COVID either. Nations around the world have committed to fight COVID and won’t be satisfied until that enemy is defeated. Welcome back to our Fall mid-week Bible study where we’re continuing our study in Romans. Today we pick up with chapter 8. Some have said that if the Bible were a wedding ring, Romans would be the diamond and chapter 8 would be the sparkle of that diamond.
