God has us all here for a reason. He redeemed us to make our lives better, give us an eternal home and to take as many people with us as we can. Love that comes from God is the power source for us to be able to live as we should and share Jesus with those who don’t yet believe. God has created order in society by establishing authorities and governmental principles by which nations are to be led. In today’s passage, Rom 12:1-21, Paul teaches the Romans, and us, that being devoted to Christ requires a change in behavior. But we can’t change on our own. We need God’s help. This is a big, big moment my friends. Since the time of the Creation of the world, God has been waiting for this moment. Sharing is something that we were all taught to do as children, but often struggle with, even as adults. The Jews found it difficult to share God with the Gentiles. In our Scripture for today, Rom 11:1-26, Paul explains how Israel’s rejection of Jesus was the Gentiles opportunity to receive the mercy of God and connect with Jesus. Up to now in this series we’ve introduced you to the Forerunner: John the Baptist. But today we’re going to see that there is one who is greater than John. When Luke recorded this story, he wanted to be sure no one missed the point. Luke was convinced by the evidence that Jesus was greater than the greatest man who ever lived and greater than the most powerful man alive. In today’s study Paul continues to contrast the way of works with the way of faith. The way of works, which the Jews attempted to follow, does not lead to God because we are all sinful. Words matter and they have power. They can shape the world. The Bible says that in the beginning God spoke the world into existence—that’s powerful.
