May 21 – Getting There – Pt 3 – Longing for the Lord

Have you ever experienced discouragement? You probably have and perhaps even some daily discouragement as well. Most of us go through some dry times and low seasons of life. Psalm 42 is a teaching psalm intended to help us learn how to handle the spiritual blahs and draw near to God. We’re going to find that David was piled with problems. He was on the run. He was alone and discouraged. He’s been where some of you may be today. Today we’re going to learn that because of what Jesus did for us we can: Seek him with everything we’ve got, be honest when we can’t, force ourselves to remember what is true and decide to trust God. May 24 – 2 Peter, Pt 11 – Imposters in the Church

We know that in the Old Testament there were false prophets that were attempting to lead Israel away from God. Peter will also remind us today that there would be false teachers rising up from within the early church as well. He said that many believers would follow them in ignorance and taint the reputation of established doctrines. Peter also said these false teachers would be greedy and lying and the consequences of their destructive behaviors would be God’s severe judgment on them. Today we’re going to look at Ps 139. Here we’ll see that as David continued to think about how marvelously God had created him it led him to realize God would be there for him wherever he was and that God’s love for him gave him value and purpose. May 17 – 2 Peter, Pt 10 – Witnesses to His Glory

As the times continued to be difficult for the believers throughout Asia Minor, Peter encouraged the them to continue to stand firm on the basics of their faith and to remind themselves of these truths (even though they knew them already) and to reestablish themselves in the truth they had been taught. May 14 – Getting There – Pt 1 – The Power of Mom

First of all a very happy and blessed Mothers’ Day to all of you moms out there. We are forever grateful to the Lord for you. Today we begin a new 8-week sermon series called “Getting There.” In today’s sermon we’re going to talk about moms from the perspective of Psalm 22. Now you’re probably thinking what would Ps 22 have to do with Mothers’ Day? and that’s a great question. For Christians Ps 22 is a “messianic” psalm. May 10 – 2 Peter, Pt 9 – Stepping Stones to Spiritual Growth

As we begin our study of 2 Peter we’ll see that Peter left some great directions that would help his readers not only recognize and reject false doctrine but also grow in their relationship with Christ. His admonitions show us that it is possible to take a firm stand against heresy and still cultivate the Christian virtues that reflect the Spirit of the Lord Jesus in our lives. May 7 – The Way, Pt 4 – He Is The Way

While on earth, Jesus often instructed people to keep His true identity a secret. However, in today’s passage, Jesus transformed before Peter, James and John, allowing them to get a glimpse of who He really was. He reveals to them that He is the Messiah, the Savior of the world and the son of God. He is the way, the truth and the life. May 3 – 1 Peter, Pt 8 – Final Words

Up to now Peter had focused on the issue of suffering and how his readers should handle it. The apostle realized that when a church is under pressure, the strength of the leadership is crucial to help the congregation remain intact. That’s why Peter, before ending his letter, gave advice to the leaders of the churches in Asia Minor on how to serve in their roles properly. Let’s find out what that advice was all about.
