Memorial Day is about remembrance. On this day we remember those who have served our country. But we also remember past events and places, those who have gone before us in the faith and, most importantly, our God and His will and ways—that’s important to living our daily lives. In today’s study we’ll see that many of the Jews in Paul’s time spent most of their free time devoting their talents to following the Law as closely as possible. And by doing so they got caught up in the external measurement of spirituality—so much so that they missed out on a real relationship with God.
