Today we begin a new study in the book of Titus. Paul wrote this letter at about the same time as his first letter to Timothy. And the reason he wrote it was to bolster Titus’ authority as Paul’s apostolic representative in Crete and to give Titus clear instruction about each aspect of his work in the churches there. If you knew you had one week to live, what would you change in your life? Would there be things you rush around trying to accomplish? Would there be people you would want to see to say, “I am sorry!” Would you be wringing your hands saying, “If only ...” As we come to the end Paul’s letter to Timothy we’ll see Paul’s life is at the end and he knows it. And he can confidently and without boastful pride say—I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Could we do the same? Let’s talk about it. Thanks for listening. As we come to chapter 5, this same community is starting to self-destruct because of some festering grievances. The workers now face a new enemy who is harder to conquer than the previous ones. The timing could not have been worse because the walls are almost done! Nehemiah has to put down his hard hat and turn his attention from the construction of the wall to the walls that were being put up between his workers. While their external enemies helped to rally the people, internal conflict threatened to divide and destroy them. Let’s find out why. Thanks for listening. God bless you! Today we’re going to read about Paul’s reflections on the significance of his and Timothy’s life together. We’re also going to examine the consistency of Paul’s own life and the trustworthiness of Scripture as two dependable guides for Timothy’s future. Did you know that there is a plague sweeping the country today? It’s not the Covid-19 or its variants. It’s not cancer or even the common cold. But this outbreak can be just as deadly as the most dreaded disease known to human-kind. What is it called?  It’s called the epidemic of discouragement. Let’s talk about it. Thanks for listening. In today’s study Paul now turns to a discussion of what Timothy can expect in the future. Paul is in prison, awaiting execution for his faith. He has exhorted Timothy to look upon his chains without being ashamed, and without fear. Paul wants Timothy to have the courage to follow in his footsteps and live without fear of man, or of what man can do to him. He wants Timothy to be a faithful witness for Christ and follow the example of Christ who did not fear rejection, loss or death. If God’s work is going to get done, we’re called to cooperate with one another, not to compare or criticize. We must keep the main thing the main thing by never forgetting that God’s glory is at stake. And, we won’t all give equally, but we can all make equal sacrifices. Remember that nothing has ever been done for God without hard work. In order to work well with others on a job that is much bigger than we are, at a task that demands everything we have we have to do certain things. What are they? The second half of chapter 2 echoes the first letter to Timothy. Apparently, the task of confronting wrong teaching and continuing the good work of discipling believers was not past the crisis stage. As he had done previously, Paul emphasized to Timothy that his moral and spiritual conduct would provide the greatest confirmation of his teaching. No matter how others may respond to the Gospel, Timothy himself must remain a consistent example. So should we all. Thanks for listening. Blessings and love in Christ! Nehemiah did not rely on his resume when it was time to build. He got out his tools so that he could handle the tasks ahead of him. In verses 1-10, we’ll see that he had at least 5 tools in his toolbox and in verses 11-20 we’ll look at the 5 tasks that he tackled.
