Apr 30 – The Way, Pt 3 – Keep The Way

Apr 26 – 1 Peter, Pt 7 – Living for Christ

Today in 1 Peter, chapter 4, Peter writes that we should take on Christ’s attitude and expect God’s purpose for our lives to include suffering. We should set the course of our lives away from mind-numbing pleasure seeking. We should also be alert so that we can pray effectively in these end times. In fact, we should rejoice if we share in Christ’s sufferings. God uses suffering to refine the faith of His people, and our present suffering contributes to future glory. And lastly if you suffer, keep doing good while trusting your soul to your Creator. That’s a lot to talk about so let’s get to it. Thanks for listening, God bless you! Apr 23 – The Way, Pt 2 – Light The Way

In this next passage of Scripture, Matt 5:13-16, Jesus shares that it’s the meek, the broken-hearted, the hungry, the peacemakers, the merciful, the persecuted, etc., that are the salt and light of the world. Apr 19 – 1 Peter, Pt 6 – Dealing With Difficult Circumstances

Up to this point in the letter, the theme of the persecution facing these young churches has been in the background. However, at this point in the letter it becomes a prominent theme. After describing the attitudes and actions that should characterize God’s people (1 Pet 3:8-12), Peter begins to explain how the believers should live in an evil world in the face of persecution. Apr 9 – Passion, Pt 5 – Unstoppable Love

The soldiers couldn’t stop Him. The crowds couldn’t stop Him. The nails couldn’t stop Him. Even the grave could not hold Him. Jesus overcame it all and was resurrected from the dead. As followers of Christ, we identify with His death, as we give up our old lives and identify with His resurrection as we embrace His Spirit living in us. Apr 5 – 1 Peter, Pt 4 – Respecting Human Authority

In today’s Scripture passage Peter explains to us that we are to live peacefully in society. As God’s society and while living as foreigners we are not called to rebellion but to serve and Peter repeatedly calls this doing good—we are to be do-gooders while living as foreigners. And our loyalty to Christ doesn’t give us a license to rebel against other authorities. Of course sometimes peace is not possible, but where it is we are to live peacefully in this world. Apr 2 – Passion, Pt 4 – Courageous Love

Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey knowing full well He would trigger the religious and political authorities. Jesus’ mission required Him to demonstrate incredible courage regardless of the reactions of others. He is Lord, the absolute authority over all things. Mar 29 – 1 Peter – Pt 3– Living Stones

Today’s Scripture passage is one of the most loved in all of Scripture. It begins as a blessing to God, but also describes how incredibly He has blessed us in Christ. Because Jesus has risen from the dead, our hope is not a wish—it is as alive as He is. Our inheritance as God’s children is eternal, full of glory and secured forever.
