What do you think of when you consider how to approach God in worship? Two words come to mind—reverence and awe. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, knowing that we are fully forgiven and accepted in His sight. May knowing this inspire us to worship Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength, both in the church and in our daily lives. In today’s Scripture passage we’re going to talk about two important things. First, verses 37-43 represent a transition from Jesus’ plan for Israel to His twelve disciples and their future ministry. John, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, provides an overview of Israel’s response to Jesus. In a nutshell they outright reject Jesus’ message. Then verses 44-50 contain Jesus’ final public declaration before His crucifixion, serving as a powerful summary of His mission and a plea for belief. Thanks for listening. God bless you! God made us in His image and He is all about community. The triune God-head—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—commune with one another. He knows we need fellowship. So, today we’ll discover that God has implanted in our souls a desire for relational community. As if to confirm the fears expressed in verse 19 (last time), today’s passage begins with a group of Greeks (Gentiles) who were trying to have an audience with Jesus. We’re not told if their request was granted but Jesus replied with some instruction on the necessity of His own death. We’ll also see that God the Father broke the silence of heaven to encourage His Son in the final days of His mission on earth. And we’ll find that Jesus Himself emphasized again that His time on earth was coming to end after which the Light would no longer be present. Thanks for listening. God bless you! Today, we’ll find that chapter 3 is going to teach us to accept life’s ebb and flow and to understand that every season has its divinely appointed time. It’s going to encourage us to find joy in our labor and acknowledge God’s supreme and mysterious plan that far exceeds human comprehension. And despite the world’s apparent injustices and the grim reality of mortality, we’ll see that we are called to trust in God’s ultimate judgment and live our lives with faith and contentment. Here’s the main idea for today: If you’re looking for self-worth in your work, you won’t find it there. But we CAN worship God by how we work.
